“Un Champ de forces” fits in line with the “great plays” created previously by Heedy Maalem, Black Spring, L’Ordre de la bataille, Le Sacre du printemps. He gets back to some of his long-time European and African interpreters, to whom he has appointed a squad of Asian dancers. Three monochrome quartets open the play, then the twelve dancers gather into a big multicorporeal body where the choreography clearly follows the paths of a dialog between division and reunion. On this field which is the stage, which is the World, sometimes calm, sometimes burst, human particles have been attracted and merged, rejected and assaulted for ages. How is the end, what outcome should be wished and built? This question which each individual should ask himself, Heddy Maalem imposes it in each of his plays. This one closes on a possible tenderness, a desired reconciliation, but also on a very enigmatic smile.
